Prior to working as an Assistant Editor, she held the position of Dailies Coordinator and Assistant Editor for the Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production department in Burbank, CA. In that position, her duties included coordinating the delivery of dailies from production to the studio on a daily basis as well as preparing weekly screenings for high-level executives at the studio and preparing special projects such as sizzle reels when requested. Her past experience includes working as an intern for the well-known post production company Sixteen19 in New York City, and as a Visual Effects department intern at the Walt Disney Studios. She also worked as a production assistant on the feature film The Muppets, and as an editorial production assistant on The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
In the fall of 2010, Joanna edited abbreviated versions of three silent films (The Beloved Rogue, Blood and Sand, and The Gold Rush) to be projected during live performances of The Silent Years, an orchestral work by William Perry derived from his complete original scores for those films. After the concert premiere of The Silent Years, performed by the Brown University Orchestra in October 2010, Perry wrote that Joanna's "cuts…are very musical, and [her] choice of scenes and shots are right on...Above all, [she has] an intuitive sense that is the essence of fine editing."
